  • The Sharon Historical Society will open the newest exhibit in The Gallery @ the SHS on Saturday, November 9, with a reception from 5 to 7 PM. “Twin Oaks Remembered,” a juried exhibition and sale, will remain on display through December 19.   • The Hotchkiss Dramatic Association presents “Ragtime: The Musical” from November 14 to 17 in the school’s Walker Auditorium. The cast is comprised of 56 students; the show is directed by R. Allen Babcock. Performances are November 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30 PM and November 17 at 2:30 PM. Proceeds from the Thursday, November 14, performance will benefit SOAR, the Salisbury Central School Enrichment Fund. Call 860-435-3203 for reservations. Tickets are $10, or $5 for students and senior citizens. Cash or check only are accepted.
  • Artist Director Christine Gevert conducts Crescendo, the tri-state area’s premier community-based music performance organization, in a program of works by four master composers of 17th century Germany: Heinrich Schutz, Franz Tunder, Dietrich Buxtehude, and Johann Pachelbel. The concerts, featuring the Crescendo Chorus, Vocal Ensemble, and Crescendo Period Instrument Orchestra, begin their 10th anniversary year. Guest soloists are early music specialists soprano Julianne Baird, countertenor Nicholas Tamagna, and baritone Steven Fasano. Berkshire Children’s Chorus and children from local schools are special guests. There will be a thirty-minute pre-concert talk: November 17 at 4 PM at Trinity Church in Lakeville. $30 for adults, $10 for children under 18; premium seating for $45. Call 860-435-4866 for tickets.
  • David Ward, one of Connecticut’s leading authorities on the American Civil War, will bring alive lesser known American history as he delves into events & circumstances that make Gettysburg — Stories of the Union High Command so gripping, even more than a century after they occurred. Co-hosted with Salisbury Association Historical Society at Scoville Memorial Library in Salisbury. November 16 at 4 PM.
