  • SAVE THE DATE: This year, Jumpfest Winter Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever; schedule to be announced in the February Sampler. On February 1, a week before the festival, Susan & Curtis Rand host a fundraising cocktail party at their home, and multi-town, multi-gallery art shows open.   • CREATIVE POWER OF THE FEMININE is the title of a 12-week seminar that, among other things, will cover indepth exploration and exercises on the following topics: Weaving your art through life; Living in the invisible world and generating synchronicity; Gender inequality; Feminine meditations: making yourself available to the sacred; Highly realized feminine expression in life and art; Assignments on ancient and universal feminine activities; Physical awareness and beauty appreciation.

  • Dan Mead and Sally Eagle have brought their exhibit, “Ultimate Antarctica,” to the Tremaine Gallery at Salisbury School, where it is currently on display through March 1. A reception for the photographers will be held on Friday, January 10, from 6 to 8 PM. This exhibit of large color photographs taken in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula provides a look at the wildlife and ecology of some of the most remote, desolate and pristine environments remaining on Earth. The Tremaine Gallery is located in the Centennial Building at Salisbury School on Canaan Road. Gallery hours are 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday (when school is in session).
  • On Saturday, January 18, from 4 to 6 PM, the David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village will host a reception for Lilly Woodworth introducing her exhibition of new oil paintings, “Fleurs Encore.” Wine and hors d’oeuvre will be served. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be on display from Friday, January 17, through Saturday, February 15.
  • The Salisbury Forum, in collaboration with Filmworks Forum, presents GIRL RISING, a documentary film followed by discussion with Senior Producer of the film, Kayce Freed Jennings, about the importance of education for girls born into unforgiving circumstances. The screening takes place Sunday, January 26, at 11:30 AM at The Moviehouse in Millerton, NY. Free admission.
