  • For all Horse Lovers! The Millbrook Horse Trials will be going on August 1 to 4 at Coole Park Farm, 1031 Bangall-Amenia Road, in Millbrook, NY. The Northeast’s most prestigious Horse Trials feature over 475 horses competing at all levels. Top riders vying to qualify for the 2014 World Equestrian Games in France.   • The Seventeenth Annual Sharon Summer Book Signing, a benefit for The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon on the Green, 10 Upper Main Street in Sharon, takes place Friday, August 2 from 6 to 8 PM.   • The Salisbury Association invites you to visit The Newly Renovated Academy Building and see the new Meeting Table made from a 300-year-old oak. Saturday, August 10, from 4 to 7 PM. Corner of Main Street and Academy Street in Salisbury.
  • A great place to enjoy a weekend stroll down Main Street: The Kent Sidewalk Festival takes place August 1 to 4, featuring food, music, books, clothing, entertainment, and more.
  • Actors and writers from the Northwest Corner will share their dramatic and literary skills at a Salisbury Family Services fundraising event called “Salisbury, Our Town: An Evening of Readings Celebrating Small-Town Life,” in the Walker Auditorium at The Hotchkiss School on September 28 at 6 PM. Among the performers, schedules permitting, will be Ed Hermann, John Benjamin Hickey and Laura Linney. Joining the actors will be authors John Burnham Schwartz and Ann Arensburg. The Joint Chiefs will be on hand to provide music and song. The performances will be followed by dinners at private residences around town. Invitations to the performance as well as to the dinners will be sent in the next few weeks. Salisbury Family Services, a nonprofit organization serving residents of the town of Salisbury, is currently providing scholarships to summer camp for children of families in need.
