Lantern Tours of the Plymouth Burying Ground and the Underground Railroad

Saturday, October 12 and 19, 7 pm

NOTE: Both tours are sold out! They will take names for a waiting list if there are cancellations.

The tours begin with a walk through the 1747 Plymouth Burying Ground. Discover how the inscriptions and symbolism on the gravestones provide clues to life in colonial Connecticut.

Then visit the Henry Terry House across the street. You will see the hidden tunnel in the cellar used to harbor slaves escaping to freedom on the Underground Railroad.

  • Where- meet at 10 Park Street, next to the Congregational Church on the Green, Plymouth, CT
  • When – Oct. 12 and 19, 7 pm
  • Cost – $10 for adults, $5 under 18 years of age. Cash only onsite. Society members are free, so why not join today!
  • Reservations required by emailing plymouthct.history@gmail.com or calling 860-921-6118. These tours sell out so reserve early.
  • Rain cancels.

A Lantern Tour of Downtown Terryville

Meet at the Lock Museum of America, 230 Main Street, Terryville, CT.

$10 adults, $5 under 18 years old – includes admission and a tour of the Museum afterward.

Live reenactors from Terryville’s past, such as Moses Dunbar, who was hung on Gallows Hill in Hartford during the Revolutionary War.

Bring flashlights and a sense of adventure!

Lock Museum tours are also available for $4 adult, kids free, for those that do not want to go on the Ghost Tour.

Free refreshments provided by the Friends of the Terryville Library.
